Tip #1
Night Time Routine
Don’t sleep on this one! Make sure you have a good night time routine. Things to think about.
-
What hairstyle do you have?
-
Do you have longer hair that’ll need wrapping?
-
How much time in the morning do you have to style your hair?
No matter the answer to these questions you need to be protecting your hair as you sleep. There are a range of products on the market to help you on your hair care journey. Our advice is to choose something affordable. As the cost of living continues to rise, we want to look for affordable solutions. This may even include things you already own. Make sure it’s comfortable, soft and silky. The National Sleep Foundation recommends Adults need between 7 and 9 hours sleep each night whilst babies and young children need even more. Find something you feel comfortable in or comfortable using. Nobody wants to have a restless night sleep in the hopes of having nice hair. At Sher Naturel we have a range of satin hair bonnets and satin pillow covers to choose from. Both products are ideal for sleep and even better they won’t break the bank. Tip #2
Avoid Heat
Heat styling is a common choice for various reasons. Maybe you want a nice flowing blow out, want to stretch your hair to make braiding easier or feel like straightening your hair to see if its grown. Whatever the reason you should really reconsider. Now we understand completely cutting heat out of your hair care routine may sound drastic but let’s start by reducing the amount of heat we use. Opt for a microfibre hair towel rather than a blow dryer or try roller sets, banding or plaits to stretch the hair.
Tip #3
Moisture
You wouldn’t want dry skin so why let your hair dry out. Natural kinky, curly, coily hair textures require a lot of moisture. We recommend you use the LCO method, Leave in conditioner - Creame (or butter) – Oil. Moisturising your hair is easy and can be done on all hair styles. If your hair is in a protective style such as braids or cornrows you should still be moisturising your hair. Use a hair spray bottle and a combination of water and oil to hydrate your hair 2-3 times a week. Filling an applicator bottle with your favourite hair oil and applying the oil to your scalp is also a great method for healthier hair.
